Morrissey posvetio stihove bendu New York Dolls: „The gang’s all gone, and now I am the only one“

Vest da je preminuo frontmen grupe New York Dolls, David Johansen (75), prvi je objavio na svom sajtu Morrissey i na taj način odao počast svom velikom i dugogodišnjem prijatelju.

Nekoliko sati kasnije, Morrissey je ponovo na svom sajtu, objavio fotografiju mladog sastava New York Dolls i ispod nje napisao stihove svoje pesme „Rebels Without Applause“.

Morrissey je, kako mnogi svetski mediji navode, zaslužan što su se New York Dolls ponovo bili okupili, nakon 28 godina pauze benda. Iako među njima više nisu bili Johnny Thunders i Jerry Nolan, koji su u međuvremenu preminuli, u ponovo okupljenom sastavu snimili su još četiri albuma.
